ELA:
- Students have finished writing and editing their personal narratives. They have started to type them up
- Persuasive writing is something we have been focusing on this week. Students formed opinions, and supported their opinions with reasons, about if we should save the tigers from the Scholastic News. As a class, we have written about persuading the rest of the school to spread kindness. Finally, the students started writing a piece persuading me to pick them (or not) from the pumpkin patch.

Math:
- Multiplying multi-digit numbers and numbers with decimal fractions
- Using estimation to check that an answer is reasonable
- Converting from larger common units to smaller common units (years to days, yards to feet)
- Reviewing rounding and place value from Module 1
Science:
- Characteristics of our Solar System
- Comparing and contrasting planets in our Solar System
- Asteroids, meteoroids, dwarf planets and comets
Religion
- the 7 Sacraments
General Announcements
- Book Buffet Projects were due on 10/19/16. They turned out GREAT!
- Science test will be 11/2/16
- Spelling words for next week: word, nerve, squirt, verse, surf, lurk, work, stern, spurts, lurch, blurt, thirst, spur, learning, shirt, midterm, return, squirm, swerve, yearns
- Religion mini project will be assigned next week
- Ask your child about the Kindness Chain we have started in our classroom.
